Frequently Asked Cistern Level Monitoring Questions

Outdoor Cistern Level Monitoring Solutions

Why is using pressure sensor technology better than ultrasonic for cisterns?

Ultrasonic sensors lose their accuracy and ability to provide reliable data when there is moisture, condensation, frost, etc on the sensor. Since cisterns are exposed to changing temperatures and humidity, condensation, and frost, pressure sensors are an ideal sensor.

Pressure sensors are not affected by temperature fluctuations, frost, snow, etc.

Can I install the transmitter inside my cistern, well, or tank?

Yes and No.

The transmitter is weather resistant, not waterproof. Just make sure that the transmitter is installed where it can’t be submerged.

Also, the pressure sensor works by measuring the pressure of the liquid and comparing that to the atmospheric pressure. The transmitter needs to be able to breath, and so it can’t be installed in an air-tight enclosure like a sealed cistern or tank.

What tools are required for installation?

Phillips screw driver (for the screws on the transmitter lid)

There are no other required tools!

If you would like, you can drill a hole for the tubing in which case you may want a cement drill and bit.

When will I receive an alert?

With the free account, you get 2 free alert set-points at levels you choose. At each of these points, you will be alerts when the liquid level goes above and below that point.
